At the age of 16 Katy Perry began to pursue gospel music after being a church singer as a child. Perry was permitted to listen to any music that she wanted from friends though this was against the parents' will. Perry has always had a an obsession with music. A flamboyant person who was adamant about her determination to be a musician and followed her goals. Prior to her first break, she was faced with many challenges and did not be able to make it big. Some of her songs were shelved before she was signed by the 'Capitol Records.' Her second studio album 'One of the Boys' was to be a huge hit which marked a major turning point in her musical career. Then, her profession as a musician began. The album she released next, "Teenage Dreams", which enthralled a lot of fans of music and became one of the top albums ever. Katy Perry became a well-known artist after this album. It broke numerous records. Perry has earned her name not just for writing music and recording them, but in addition for her charitable work as well, has a variety of passions. She's also an activist, who is a proponent of equality for gay people.
